United for Impact

Devotional 1 of 4: Sunday, April 27th

By Renee Davis

Please read this devotional prayerfully as an individual or together with your family:

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Romans 15:5-6

Are you a parent, grandparent, sibling, friend, coworker? You fill different roles for different people, and thus everyone knows something unique about what makes you… well you. If it’s true that it takes a diverse community of people in our lives to reveal each aspect of our own character, couldn’t that also be true of our Creator, whose image we bear? We need each other, as that’s how we can understand each facet of our Lord and Savior.

Dear Heavenly Father, please bring us as a church together in harmony, and let us know each other well so that we can know You better. Help us as we embark on our “Pick, Park, & Pray” challenge to remember that we are stronger when we serve in unity.

Devotional 2 of 4: Wednesday, April 30th

By Renee Davis

Please read this devotional prayerfully as an individual or together with your family:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:28

How do you identify yourself? Age, occupation, socioeconomic status… something else? At Bonsack Baptist we certainly have diverse members across these groups. However, the beauty of the gospel is that these labels don’t matter to Christ—our identity isn’t in red or blue, young or old. Our identity is in Him. We’re Christians first, and every other label comes second. Let’s embrace those we pray with and worship beside. After all, we are all one in Christ.

Lord, thank you for surrounding me with Christians that may have different perspectives than me. Please use our “Pick, Park, & Pray” challenge to unify our church.

Devotional 3 of 4: Sunday, May 4th

By Micah Young

Please read this devotional prayerfully as an individual or together with your family:

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” – John 8:12

Walk into a dark room without turning on a light and you may find yourself stumbling to the ground. Turn on the light and suddenly everything changes. Light in a dark space makes all the difference. Jesus uses this imagery to describe the kind of impact he had on the world when he entered into it. We who know Jesus can also have an influence over the darkness. As you gather your family to “Pick, Park, & Pray” over our local ministry partners and schools, be encouraged knowing the light of the world goes with you. He will make an impact beyond your imagination!

Jesus, thank you for being the light to guide our way. May it shine brightly through our lives into the dark places.

Devotional 4 of 4: Wednesday, May 7th

By Micah Young

Please read this devotional prayerfully as an individual or together with your family:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

When we feel like what we are doing is not making any difference, the temptation to quit can be strong. We all want to see results from our hard work. We all want to see people changed by our words. When we are weary and drained, let us consider these encouraging words of the apostle Paul. Spiritual impact is often gradual and takes time, but we are promised to eventually experience a harvest. Participating in the “Pick, Park, & Pray” challenge on location as families is a great way to strengthen our faith, create a unified spirit of love, and have a powerful influence in our community.

Jesus, thank you for your promise to make our work productive. Renew our spirits as we serve you.
