Dominican Republic Missions Trip 2025 Prayer Schedule
Anytime we send a team on a mission trip we know that God is working there before we arrive and will continue to work after we depart. Our goal is not to ride in as saviors on a white horse who claim to be able to fix every problem in a foreign community. Instead, it is to support and encourage the local people who are at work showing God’s love to people. Doing the work that Pathway Dominican is doing is hard and our presence can help the Pathway staff and the people they minister to feel loved, seen, heard, and valued.
Below is our schedule. We ask you to come along with us and support us through prayer. Each day has prayers specific to what the team will be doing or the people that we will meet. We encourage you to lift our team up in prayer and be the Church together with us!
Saturday, March 22: Our team will travel today. We will drive to Charlotte and then fly to Santo Domingo.
Please pray for a safe, smooth journey.
Sunday, March 23: Today the team will spend most of the day becoming familiar with the culture of the Dominican Republic by exploring the area and building relationships with the Pathway Team. The team will attend church in the evening at Iglesia Casa De Dios (Church of God). This church, led by Pastor Juan Pablo and Pastor Felicita is the primary church that we partner with through Pathway Dominicana.
Pray that relationships are formed that can blossom throughout the week. Pray with thanksgiving that God is at work in Santa Fe and that our team will be a part of God’s work.
Monday, March 24: This morning the team will prepare and distribute food bags to the community of Santa Fe. Food bags are given to families selected by the church who are in need. This helps the church to meet needs in their community and build relationships with the people who live there.
In the afternoon, the team will lead children’s activities at Rayito de Luz (Ray of Light) Day Care. This is a brand-new ministry that is providing care for children in the Batey (village) of Aleman.
Pray for the families that will receive the food that the team distributes; that the food will give them hope and they will see the church/Jesus as the provider of that hope.
Pray also for the new ministry, Rayito de Luz, that it is effective in providing quality care for children and easing the burden for mothers.
Tuesday, March 25th: This morning the team will once again distribute food bags to families in Santa Fe.
In the afternoon, the team will co-host an event for children/teens at Casa de Dios in Santa Fe. Iglesia Casa de Dios is uniquely situated next to a baseball field. Every afternoon, dozens of children come to play baseball and attend church. Teen and youth outreach is the primary ministry of Iglesia Casa de Dios.
Pray that the children and teens will feel the love of God through the actions and attitudes of our team. Pray that relationships that have been made over years of partnership will continue to strengthen.
Wednesday, March 26th: Today, the team will spend the morning working on the property in Aleman owned by Pathway Dominicana. This property currently serves as a community center where many events such as Bible studies for teens, support groups for pregnant girls and young moms, pastor’s workshops are held. This property has expanded greatly over past few years and most of our teams have had a hand in its construction. Currently, they are building a kitchen, which will be available for use by the people of Aleman and our team will aid in the construction.
In the afternoon, the team will return to Iglesia Casa de Dios for a men’s outreach event. Often in Dominican culture, men see religion/spirituality as something that is for women and children. Pathway is making a specific effort to minister to the men of Santa Fe. The church’s location next to the baseball field helps this mission.
Pray with thanks for the facility that Pathway has built in Aleman and the work that is done through it in the community. Pray for the men who will attend the outreach event, that they will see the need for God and that the church can help meet that need.
Thursday, March 27th: This morning, the team will return to Aleman to continue working on the community kitchen.
This afternoon, the team will travel to the IDP Church of El Patio led by Pastor Marilis. El Patio is an adjacent community to Santa Fe and IDP is a sister church to Iglesia Casa de Dios. There the team will lead a women’s outreach event. This event is designed to connect the women of El Patio with the church.
Pray for the women of El Patio, that they will come feel seen, heard, and loved by our team and the church in El Patio.
Friday, March 28th: Today, the team will rest and reflect on what has been an incredible, life-changing week.
Pray that our team will enjoy God’s creation and see how God has been present this week and how they have grown/changed.
Saturday, March 29th: Today the team will get up extremely early to fly home.
Pray for safe travels. Pray that when the team returns, they are able to share what they have learned and continue to serve God here in Roanoke.
Team Members: Brian Copening, Bill Hartsfield, Honor Hartsfield, Carl Hundley, Louise Hundley, Lauren Johnson, Melissa Tuck
The Why of Pathway Dominicana
We believe in the power of faith, hope, and love to transform lives. We want to create a world where every individual knows the Gospel, and every community is filled with the hope of Jesus.
Our vision is to see lives transformed through acts of service and love. We envision a society where every man, woman, and child knows Jesus. A world where the broken are made whole.
The What of Pathway Dominicana
Our mission is to mobilize the Church to serve in the community, meet human needs, and work for the Kingdom of Heaven. We are committed to walking alongside those in crisis and providing practical support, emotional care, and spiritual guidance.
Through partnerships with churches in the US, we are able to train local churches and deploy them to work in the communities of San Pedro de Macoris.
We train those who partner with us to better share the Gospel and impact the communities we serve.
We deploy ourselves and the groups we partner with deploy into the communities we serve to impact their lives and eternities.
